Job outline
Location: Office based in Bakewell with regular travel to DDAT Schools, and some opportunity for hybrid working.
Derby Diocesan Academy Trust is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Estates and H&S Lead to support and develop the expanding estates of the Trust Academies.
Derby Diocesan Academy Trust is a local network of schools based within Derbyshire. We work collaboratively with others. We break down any defences, walls, or perceptions around being competitors with each other or one school not being as good as another. Our focus is on developing the whole child so that they become well-rounded individuals who are ready for the next stage in their education or life.
Our vision is to build a better future for all within our academies who in turn will positively impact their communities. Church schools within DDAT academies are recognised for their distinctive and inclusive Christian ethos and for the impact this has on raising educational standards.
Our model is about offering children and young people life in all its fullness. Each of our schools has its own curriculum that will develop academic achievement, personal development, and well-being for all learners, regardless of their ability or background.
As Estates and Health and Safety Lead at Derby Diocesan Academy Trust, you will provide leadership and support for the Central Team and Business Managers within the Trust, safely maximising facilities, and resources to achieve the best educational outcomes and developing the expanding estates of the Trust Academies.
You will make sure the Trust has a strategic view of all estate functions across the Trust. Additionally, you will lead on procurement and delivery of all Trust Estates Contracts and, with the support of the COO, lead the Trust in all new school design and build construction programmes.
Our ideal candidate is committed to the needs of the pupils, parents and other stakeholders and will challenge barriers to providing an effective service. You will be open, honest, and an active listener who can take responsibility and accountability.
You will have considerable senior experience in the education or public sector with highly effective commercial acumen and a successful track record of managing the estate and Health and Safety aspects of a complex multi-site organisation.
You will also have a “can do” solution-focused attitude and be able to encourage and motivate others. Flexibility and adaptability to meet unexpected challenges is key to the role, as is the willingness to contribute to the wider ethos of the Trust.
